Band Beat

posted Nov 6, 2011, 8:12 PM by Susan Edwards
The Pride of Morehead marching band gave the final performance of it's award winning show "Genius" last night at the Band Beat Championship at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs.  Grand Champion bands from Virginia, Tennessee, North & South Carolina all competed for awards.  We placed 2nd out of 5 bands in Class 1A, with a first place in musical performance!  And out of the 20 bands competing, from Class 1A through 4A bands, we came in 11th, less than a point away from 10th.  Our students marched with spirit, precision, and passion in their first championship competition at Gardner Webb under Sean McClure.  "That small band from Eden" has made a statement and will not be taken lightly next year.  Thank you to everyone who took that leap of faith.

Once again, our pit crew had to work extraordinarily hard - the wind got us again!  Thanks to all who battled the elements - from our pit crew to the cheering section of parents, grandparents, & siblings in the stands.

Upon our arrival back in Eden, our bus and trailers were escorted by 3 of Eden's Finest - a huge thank you to the Eden Police Department!  They made the student's night!

With much Pride,
Lisa Harris
